Fatigue Behavior Comparison of Inter-Ply and Intra-Ply Hybrid Flax-Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer Matrix Composites

Hybridization of natural fiber with synthetic to reinforce polymer matrix composites is an effective way increasing fatigue strength substantial amount bio-based content. Flax the strongest type bast fiber, possessing excellent mechanical and damping properties. Fatigue properties flax hybridized carbon reinforced were studied. inter-ply hybrid flax-carbon composite compared intra-ply through tensile testing at 70% load ultimate a loading frequency 3 Hz. For similar (by mass) exhibited very large increase (>2000%) in life composites. Suitable hybridization can produce that are as strong while containing high content fibers.
